Edge to Edge Quilting

I've found that edge to edge (e2e) quilting is a super fun and efficient way to finish a quilt.  It creates a cohesive pattern that repeats all across the entire quilt, giving it a really polished and complete look.  Personally, I use an APQS longarm machine that's equipped with Quilt Path, which makes the process even smoother.  Just a heads up, I don't do any custom quilting.

Rates:

The rate for e2e quilting is a flat rate of $0.025 cents per square inch.

For example, if your top quilt is 60" x 70", it will cost $105.00 (60 x 70 = 4200 x $0.025 = $105.00) and this includes thread, bobbin, and needle.

There is a minimum $50.00 charge on edge-to-edge quilting per quilt, just so you know.

Turnaround time is two weeks from the time received, but you can book an appointment in advance to avoid any turnaround time.

Also, just to let you know, I'm currently able to quilt up to a queen size. Sorry, no King size at this time.

All prices are noted in Canadian Dollars (CAD).

Batting:

You have the option to choose between Quilter's Dream or Hobb's batting for your quilt, or you can bring your own. My aim is to provide the best materials for your quilting needs, as I believe every quilt deserves quality. It's important to note that the cost of batting is not included in the square-inch price. Instead, I charge per linear inch from a roll of batting, which comes in different sizes ranging from 92" to 96" wide. You can trust that I will only use what's necessary for your quilt (the smallest side plus an 8" margin) and charge accordingly per inch.

For instance, if you have a 60" x 70" quilt, I'll cut 68" of the batting of your choice, leaving you with extra leftover in the back.

Here are the available Quilter's Dream Batting options and their prices:

- Quilter's Dream 80/20 cotton/poly blend (92" wide) - $0.40 per inch*
- Quilter's Dream 100% cotton (93" wide) - $0.60 per inch*
- Quilter's Dream Bamboo (93" wide) - $0.50 per inch*

And here's the Hobbs option:

- Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 cotton/poly blend (96" wide) - $0.40 per inch*

* All prices are listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD)

Thread:

To ensure the highest quality, I use Glide thread by Fil-Tec which is a 100% polyester in #40 weight for the top of your quilt, and either Magna-Glide Classic WT#60 or Magna-Glide Delights WT#40 on pre-wound bobbins.

I don't charge any extra fees for thread and bobbin use - it's all included in your square inch price. While I do my best to blend thread color as much as possible, at the end of the day, this is your quilt! If you have a specific color in mind, feel free to put it on the form, and I'll do my best to accommodate your request.

To help you choose the right thread color, I have a digital color card for Glide.

Please note that I don't have all of the colors, so it's best to check with me if the color you want is available. Let's work together to create the perfect quilt for you!

Backing:

At Simply Sew Quilt Shop, you can find a variety of options for your quilting needs, including fireside and cuddle fabrics as well as 108" wide backings. Alternatively, you can bring your own backing to use for your quilt.

If you need to seam your backing, make sure to use a generous 1/2" seam allowance and backstitch at the ends to secure it. Press the seam open to reduce bulk.

If you choose to order from another shop and have it delivered to me, I would be happy to piece your backing for $20.00* per hour. Let me know if you want me to take care of it for you.

Remember, your backing should be 4" larger than your quilt top on all sides. For example, if your quilt is 60" x 70", your backing should be 68" x 78". This will provide me with more space for longarm quilting.

If your backing has a specific direction, mark the top with masking tape so I can ensure it's correctly oriented during quilting.

Thank you for your attention to these details!
